  2. This README file lists enhancements and changes to the files on the
  3. Office Program diskette(s).  The information in this file pertains
  4. specifically to the System Administrator.  A new System
  5. Administrator's Guide is shipped with Office 3.01 that documents
  6. the necessary enhancements.
  7.  
  8. Each enhancement or change is listed by program name and feature. 
  9.  
  10. CHKOFF:  Password
  11. A new Password feature has been added to CHKOFF.  Once a password
  12. has been setup with the GENOFF startup option /pw, CHKOFF prompts
  13. you to enter a password before executing.  If an incorrect password
  14. is entered, CHKOFF displays the following error message "ERROR:
  15. Invalid Password."

  17. CHKOFF:  System Administration Menu
  18. Selected options are now saved when you press Enter to exit the
  19. CHKOFF menu or when CHKOFF is run.  No options are saved when you
  20. press Exit (F7).

  22. GENOFF:  Error Handling
  23. GENOFF now warns you if a field is larger than the display portion
  24. of the field in the Notebook.  A record that is too large is
  25. dropped and a warning is given.

  27. GENOFF:  Extended Characters
  28. GENOFF now recognizes extended characters 32-255 in the Notebook
  29. information files.  If GENOFF encounters characters 156, 158-159,
  30. and/or 168-254 (excluding 225) GENOFF displays the following
  31. message: "Characters found that could be changed when moved to
  32. other platforms."

  34. GENOFF:  Login ID
  35. To accommodate Banyan users, the maximum length for the Network
  36. Login ID has been changed from 48 to 63 characters.

  38. GENOFF:  Multiple Hosts
  39. In a multiple host domain, GENOFF now copies most files between
  40. hosts rather than building new files on each host.  This reduces
  41. the time required to run GENOFF.  The files that are now copied are
  42. USERID.FIL, RESOURCE.FIL, HOST_XXX.?ID, and the files in the GRP
  43. and ALS directories.

  45. GENOFF:  Non-Delivery Hosts
  46. For users and resources located on non-delivery hosts, GENOFF now
  47. only requires the Host Name and UserID or ResourceID field to be
  48. completed in the USERID.NB or RESOURCE.NB.

  50. GENOFF:  Password
  51. A new Password feature has been added to GENOFF.  Once a password
  52. has been setup with the GENOFF startup option /pw, GENOFF prompts
  53. you to enter a password before executing.

  55. GENOFF:  USERID.NB
  56. GENOFF has added four new fields: Last Name, Given Name, Initials,
  57. and Generation.  These fields replace the Full Name field in
  58. previous versions of the USERID.NB file.

  60. GENUNB:  GENUNB
  61. GENUNB now extracts user information from the Banyan Directory
  62. Assistance (similar to the Novell Bindery).  For StreetTalk users
  63. who have a nickname, the nickname will be added to the USERID.NB as
  64. the Office UserID.

  66. GENUNB:  Startup Options
  67. The startup option /s has been added to GENUNB.  This option allows
  68. GENUNB to scan the Banyan Directory Assistance using DOS wildcard
  69. characters.

  71. GENUNB:  Startup Options
  72. The startup option /nt has been added to GENUNB.  This option
  73. allows you to specify the network type you are using.  Currently,
  74. the only network types that GENUNB recognizes are Novell, Banyan,
  75. and StreetTalk.

  77. SCHEDULER CONVERT:  Cancel
  78. Scheduler Convert now supports Cancel (F1) and Exit (F7) from an
  79. initial prompt.

  81. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION DATABASE:  File ID
  82. The Administration Database now verifies uniqueness of the user
  83. File ID field on a per-host basis.

  85. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION DATABASE:  Update
  86. If you try to access the 3.0 Office Administration Database using
  87. the new 3.01 Office System Administration menus, an error message
  88. is displayed telling you to access the new version of the database.

  90. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION DATABASE:  USERID.NB
  91. The system administration databases have been changed to match the
  92. format of the new 3.01 USERID.NB.  The export from the database to
  93. the RESOURCE.NB has also been changed to match the changes to the
  94. default field sizes.
